Step 3 Remove driver side wheel, stop and pack vehicle Step 2 Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition Step 1 Turn the steering wheel first as far as it will go anticlockwise and then as far as it will go clockwise Some newer vehicles can auto calibrate by having the wheel turned from lock to lock and then centered and cycling the key. If the SAS is out of calibration, most vehicles can tell if they are traveling in a straight line, but if the angle is too far off, the ESC could become disabled. These signals are often out of phase with each other. The ESC module has to receive two signals to confirm the steering wheel position. ![]() ![]() The cluster normally is compatible with more than one steering position sensor for confirming data. The SAS is located in a sensor cluster in the steering column. To keep it easy, the steering in a car or other vehicle is the mechanical parts of it which make it possible to steer. ![]() SAS, steering angle sensor is a significant element of the ESC system which control the steering wheel position angle and rate of turn.
